Donation at West Mamprusi Assembly

The West Mamprusi Municipal Assembly in the North East Region of Ghana has donated refrigerators worth thousands of Ghana cedis to persons with disabilities (PWDs) in the Municipality to support their livelihoods and their families.

The donation was done through the Disability Common Fund (DCF) which is intended to alleviate the plight of persons with disabilities (PWDs) by assisting them in establishing their own businesses.
The support offered to the persons with disabilities (PWDs) in the Assembly is in line with the government’s effort of achieving the sustainable development goal 8.5 which seeks to achieve full and productive employment for persons with disabilities (PWDs).

The donation was made at a brief event organized by the Assembly on 5th April, 2023 at the Assembly’s premises and was graced by the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Issahaku Arimeyaw Somo Lucky Basintale, Mba Naminyala Daana and some staff of the assembly.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Issahaku Arimeyaw Somo Lucky Basintale in his brief remarks outlined the government’s intentions to continue to support persons with disability in the West Mamprusi Municipal Assembly and asked for more support from individuals and non-governmental organizations for PWDs.
He further urged the beneficiaries (Mma Ayi and Mallam Fuseini) to put the items received into good use.

“We will be periodically monitoring through the social welfare office to see how best they have been using them. And to see whether it has actually changed or taken them away from poverty. Our main aim is to eradicate poverty completely in the Municipality.” He noted.

The beneficiaries expressed their delight and gratitude to the Assembly for the support they have received.
