SASSA Child Grant Dates for October 2025

How to Verify Your Identity on the SASSA Portal

If you receive a children-related grant from SASSA, such as the Child Support Grant, Foster Child Grant or Care Dependency Grant, it is important to know when your payment is scheduled in October 2025.

Below is the official date, what it means, how to prepare, and what to do if you don’t receive your funds.

What is the Child Grant and who gets it?

The Child Support Grant is paid to the primary caregiver of a child under 18, subject to means tests and residency requirements.

The Foster Child Grant applies when a child is placed in foster care by court order.

The Care Dependency Grant is for children with severe disabilities requiring full-time care.

These children’s grants help cover nutrition, schooling, transport, and other essentials for the child’s benefit.

When is the payment date for October 2025?

SASSA has published that for October 2025, the date for children’s and all other grants (including Child Support, Foster Child, and Care Dependency) is Monday, 6 October 2025.

This date follows the monthly pattern where Older Persons grants are paid first, then Disability, then children’s/other grants.

What does this date mean for you?

On Monday, 6 October 2025, SASSA will begin making the funds available for all child-related grants.

If you receive one of these grants, you should check your account or pay point from or soon after that date.

Even if you don’t receive your money exactly at opening time, the funds will remain available until you collect them.

SASSA emphasises there is no need to rush to collection points on the first morning.

How much will the child grants be in October 2025?

According to published SASSA amounts for 2025:

  1. Child Support Grant: R560 per child.
  2. Foster Child Grant: R1 250 per child.
  3. Care Dependency Grant: R2 315 per child (for children with severe disabilities) for 2025.
Make sure that when your funds reflect the correct amount has been credited.

What should you do to ensure smooth payment?

To avoid delays or issues:

  1. Confirm your status with SASSA: make sure your application is approved, and there is no “Pending” or “Referred” status.
  2. Verify that your banking or payment method details are correct and active. If you changed your account or payment method, update SASSA ahead of time.
  3. On 6 October 2025, check your bank account, SASSA card or pay-point; allow for possibly late morning clearance.
  4. Keep your ID and any relevant SASSA card or certificate handy when collecting at a pay point.

What if you don’t receive your payment on the date?

If by Monday, 6 October, the funds haven’t appeared:

  1. Re-check your status online and confirm your banking or payment details.
  2. Be aware that banks sometimes take several hours (or even into the afternoon) to reflect deposits — some banks may only update after 14:00.

If your status shows “Approved” but no funds appear after a business day, contact SASSA or visit your local office with your ID number and reference details.
