SASSA Social Grant Payment Schedule for October 2025

SASSA Social Grant Payment Schedule for October 2025

If you receive one of the SASSA social grants, such as the Older Persons Grant (pension), Disability Grant, Child Support Grant, Foster Care, Care Dependency, or Grant‐in‐Aid, it’s helpful to know exactly when payments will be made in October 2025.

SASSA has confirmed the dates for most grants, and below we outline them, what they mean for you, and what to plan for.

Payment Dates by Grant Type

According to multiple trustworthy sources, the payment schedule in October 2025 for the main grants is as follows:

  1. Older Persons Grant (60 + years) — Thursday, 2 October 2025.
  2. Disability Grant — Friday, 3 October 2025.
  3. Children’s & Other Grants (Child Support, Foster Care, Care Dependency, Grant-in-Aid) — Monday, 6 October 2025.

These dates mean that from the given date onward, the grant funds will be available for collection or deposit.

Beneficiaries should plan accordingly and ensure their payment method (bank account, card, pay point) is ready.

Grant Amounts (October 2025)

Along with the schedule, the following amounts apply for October 2025 for the main grants (as published in media alongside SASSA statements):

  1. Older Persons & Disability Grants: R2 315 (for ages 60-74) and R2 335 (for ages 75+).
  2. Care Dependency Grant: R2 315.
  3. Child Support Grant: R560.
  4. Foster Care Grant: R1 250.

Knowing the amount and date helps you verify your payment when it arrives.

What about the SRD/R370 Grant?

The Social Relief of Distress (SRD) Grant, commonly called the R370 grant, has a different schedule.

It does not follow the early-month day pattern of the main grants. Instead:

  1. Its payment window is later in the month and varies by beneficiary depending on verification, banking, etc.
  2. While the exact date for October 2025 is not fixed to one day for all recipients, some sources list a series of possible days late in the month (for example, around the 20th-30th) for SRD payees.

If you receive the SRD grant, it’s especially important to check your status online or through SASSA channels (ID number + phone number) to find your individual payment date.

Why Are There Different Dates?

SASSA staggers payments for two main reasons:

  1. To avoid huge queues and congestion at pay points. Older persons are paid first, then disability, then children’s, and then other grants.
  2. Because different grants have different verification and processing flows (for example, SRD has additional monthly eligibility checks), this means a later window.

Also, if a date falls on a weekend or public holiday, or if banking systems delay, your funds may reflect slightly later than the nominal date, but SASSA publishes the first date when the payment becomes available.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your status: Before the scheduled date, confirm via the official SASSA portal that your grant is approved and your banking or collection details are correct.
  2. Update details if needed: If your bank account, your mobile number, or your personal details have changed, update them early so your payment is not delayed.
  3. Plan for withdrawal: After the date listed (for example, 2 October for pensioners), your funds should be accessible via your selected payment method (bank deposit, card, pay point).
  4. Budget accordingly: Knowing your amount and date helps plan your spending — especially for essentials like food, medication, and transport.

If payment is late: If by the scheduled date you still haven’t received your grant, check your status again.

For SRD particularly, your exact payday may be later in the window. If issues persist, contact SASSA.
